Welcome to AMSdefense. We are committed to provide a safe and fun learning experience to everyone looking to learn about firearms and help those working towards obtaining a carry permit. To apply for a pistol permit most states require you to complete a handgun safety course (NRA’s “Basic Pistol Course) prior to submitting your pistol permit application. The course may be used for you to obtain the certification for your concealed carry permit in most states. Be sure to contact your county, city, or state to find out whether this course fulfills the requirement.

This course does not provide you a permit of any kind, the certification is needed for the application process.

As well as needing this course to apply for your permit, the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is a great way for you to learn the basics of pistol shooting from experienced NRA certified firearm training instructors. Those who complete the course will leave with the skills to shoot safely and accurately.

Single-Day and Evening 2 Day Classes

Single-day classes run from 8AM-5PM

Evening classes (2 classes) run from 5:30PM-9:30PM and you must attend both evenings.  

Bring a photo ID. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class to complete registration.
